SAN RAMON BMX RACES ON HOLD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

The remainder of the 2009 BMX races scheduled at the Memorial Park BMX track have been put on indefinite hold due to the resignation of our BMX contractor, Shane Huntoon, who has been the race and track maintenance operator for the last 6 years for the City of San Ramon. Shane and his wife Karen have made the decision to resign due to a shift in their priorities.  The Huntoons stated that their time with the City of San Ramon has been “an exceptional experience” but the time has come to change their focus. Shane and his wife will continue to provide the maintenance of the track.  At this time the Parks and Community Services Department staff will evaluate the race program to decide whether to pursue races for 2009/2010 in light of our track’s recreational nature. There are two other NBL (National Bicycle League) sanctioned tracks, available in Livermore and Prunedale, for BMX riders of NBL sanctioned races. Links to these tracks are located at www.nbl.org.

For more information contact Adam Chow at 973-3362 or achow@sanramon.ca.gov.

We (Shane & Karen) are not currently running Livermore BMX and San Ramon BMX Races. It has been an awesome 11+ years in Livermore and 6+ years in San Ramon doing something so special for the local and surrounding communities. We thank every single one of you for making all of this possible. Both Livermore and San Ramon BMX tracks will remain open for public recreation. And if you haven't been to Pleasanton, you need to take a ride:)

As many of you know Shane has a PASSION and a MISSION. His passion and mission is to provide every city with a BMX track for recreational pleasure and maybe racing too. We are currently working with many different cities to implement BMX tracks with some in the very near future. Recreation or Racing…to be determined. We will keep you updated as everything progresses.

To satisfy your BMX racing needs go to NBL.org or ABABMX.com.
